The first round of ASRL insanity has come come and gone and with it a new wave of hopes and dreams for each and every of the ASRL's 14 proud clubs. Here is he first power rankings after round 1.
1.Sydney Oilers.
Absolutely blasted the reigning champions Hull off the pitch in the first half with new stars across the park shining in their new colours. New halves Moylan and DCE put on a master class that will have Coach Rogerius Bossert doing a strange Ipswich boot scoot of joy.
In form players:Matt Moylan (121), Dale Cherry-Evans (113)
Injuries:Sonny Bill Williams (2) is likely to meet next round while Josh McGuire, Boyd Cordner and 4 other players will need physio to be at full strength.
2.Capetown Ravens
Capetown were helmed by the famously luckless Cameron Smith and for once that paid dividends for his team as the Ravens comfortably swept over the Brisbane boys. It was a pair of ex-Orcas who starred with Walker and Rapana on fire.
In form players:Cody Walker (115), Jordan Rapana (111)
Injuries:Cody Walker (2) is in major doubt for round two whilst Tariq Sims should be ok to play (1)
3.Auckland Orcas
Auckland bounced back to their form coming into the finals last season which saw them favoruites only to be pumped by Brisbane at the last hurdle.
The centres pairing of Hess and Watkins were superb in overcoming a very highly rated Gold Coast team.
In form players:Coen Hess (124), Callum Watkins (109)
Injuries:Damien Cook (1), Jake Connor (1) both have nigglers
4.Glasgow Reapers
A good start to the season for the Reapers who calmly swept aside the carnage with special mention going to their firing centres combo of Fitzgibbon and Croker.
In form players:Lachlan Fitzgibbon (125), Jarrod Croker (111)
Injuries:Danny Haughton (1) Luke Thompson (1)
5.Adelaide Attitude
Adelaide notably choked in the gf qualifier last season playing a lowly-rated fb over Ben Barba or Sam Tomkins. However, they have managed to start their revitalisation well with a win over grand finalists Melbourne.
In form players:Sam Tomkins (121), Jesse Ramien (120)
Injuries:Jamayne Isaako (3), Semi Radrara (1) plus 4 others with 1 weekers
6.Fairfield Stallions
The always cagey Stallions got the better of Darwin this round in a very close fought affair with their superior halves performance getting them the V.
In form players:Mitchell Pearce (109), Michael Morgan (112)
Injuries:Ben Garcia (2) and a few one weekers
7.Darwin Dragons
An infuriatingly close loss for Darwin who lost despite some magic from fullback Fusitua.
In form Players:David Fusitua (124), Euan Aitken (120)
Injuries:Isaah Yeo (3) and a few one weekers in the backline.
8.Melbourne Monsters
A fantastic 2018/19 ended in the gf loss but Melbourne will need to do more than this to go one better this season.
In form players:Angus Crichton (108), Josh Charnley (108)
Injuries:Stefan Ratchford (6), Scott Taylor (5) and a few one weekers.
9.Canberra Carnage
No joy in the nations capital with winger Cotric the only spark in a very sluggish looking team.

10.Gold Coast Crusade
Heavy off season recruiting of all the kings horses and all the kings men couldnt make GC win again as they were outclassed by a superior Orcas outfit.

Injuries:Wade Graham (1) is expected to be fit for round 2.
11.Brisbane Cougars
Went down with barely a whimper to upstart Capetown. Greg Inglis and James Maloney looked about 100 years old out there.

Injuries:Ben Currie (2), Nene McDonald (1)
12.Hull KR
How the mighty do fall! Bosserts new-look Oilers threw the usually strong KR squad around like a baby playing with its rattle. Hull will need a huge turned around next week to have any chance.

Injuries:Chris Hill (4) was the only major casualty of this weeks massacre
