Sydney Oilers utility Josh Reynolds is awaiting the result of a third drugs test after being pulled over by police while driving home from Bankstown Airport on Monday morning.
Reynolds, who was issued with an infringement for driving with an expired licence, failed a roadside drugs test at Caringbah but a second test was negative.
A further test conducted at Sutherland Police Station has been sent to a laboratory.
The former NSW Origin five-eighth has not been charged with any drugs offence at this point.
Oilers officials advised the ASRL of the incident and the integrity unit is working with police.
An ASRL spokesman said: "The Sydney Oilers advised the ASRL Integrity Unit of the matter. The Integrity Unit are working with the club and NSW Police to determine the full details."
Oilers utility Josh Reynolds has denied reports that he failed a roadside drugs test after being pulled over in Caringbah at 1:30am on Monday morning.
The Taily Delegraph reported the 31-year-old was also driving with an expired licence and is awaiting the results of a second swab after Police issued him with an infringement notice.
The Delegraph said Reynolds’ two test results contradicted each other, with one returning a positive result and the other negative.
Reynolds took to Twitter to angrily deny the reports.
He admitted that he was driving with an expired licence, which he was “unaware of” but clarified that he was tested for alcohol, which came back negative and for drugs, which came back false positive.
Reynolds then confirmed he went to the station to undergo another test, which came back negative and he was released without charge.
The Oilers released a statement on Monday night:
“Sydney Oilers are aware of a matter involving Josh Reynolds and NSW Police on June 8, 2020.
“After arriving back from Queensland at 12:50am as part of the club’s Round 4 squad that faced the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday night, Josh was pulled over by police a short time after for driving without a valid driver’s licence.
“Josh underwent roadside alcohol and drug testing, and was taken to Sutherland Police Station for a higher-level test as per normal protocols. This test returned a negative result and Josh was subsequently released without charge.
“The ASRL Integrity Unit were made aware by Sydney Oilers earlier this morning and have been working closely with the club since then.
“Sydney Oilers will be making no further comment on the matter.
An ASRL spokesperson confirmed in a statement that the Oilers had notified the Integrity Unit of the incident.

Reynolds has battled his fair share of off-field drama recently including a messy break up with ex-girlfriend Arabella Del Busso who allegedly faked a number of pregnancies with Reynolds.
He faced domestic charges earlier this year, which were later dropped.
