What to do with RL bad boys?
At first, I was a critic of the ASRL rule to stand down players for misbehaviour but I've been a fan of it for a long time for various reasons. But, I feel there is a bit of a loose end in regards to dealing with them. Im interested to hear what you guys think of the issue.
Lets use Michael Jennings and Bronson Xerri as an example. Both had been stood down by their clubs and the NRL. Jennings is still employed by Parra and awaiting the outcome of his B sample. Xerri is no longer a Sharks employee and has been banned for four years.
Here is my question. Should a coach have the right to terminate the contract of a player which has been stood down without paying them out?
I think the coaches of these players should have that right to release them if they so choose. In real life, if a player violates terms of their contract, their club has the right to sack him without a payout.
I think with using a no payout rule, it would only have to be used for guys that are facing serious off-field issues and not on-field. You should not have the right to sack your highly paid dud if he is suspended for one week for a high tackle for example.

Yes fine with me. I think anyone who has been stood down by the NRL can legitimately be cut without penalty.

But you could also hang onto them, just not play them, yes?
