This Friday the ASRL peons will bear witness to a grand final with perhaps more historical significance then ever. On the one hand, you have the Darwin Dragons, led by the stoic, grizzled Coach Dino Vikas, who seem always the bridesmaid never the bride. That's right. Darwin enter their third grand final searching for their maiden premiership after numerous seasons in a row of going excruciatingly close but falling short.
On the other hand, we have Adelaide Attitude, who are looking to break the record for most premierships in ASRL history at last surpassing ASRL creator and spoon connoisseur Chris Walker Bush and moving away from grumpy Hull KR coach, Dave Paddock.
Clearly two coaches with so much on the line.
Darwin go in to the Grand Final welcoming a number of key players back led by Luke Keary. The Dragons also beat the Attitude just two weeks ago in extra time with stud halfback Nathan Cleary playing at hooker proving just the medicine the doctor. More than likely, Cleary will find himself in the position that won him ASRL player of the year along side Cleary.
Adelaide, in contrast, lose Joey Lussick and possibly Liam Farrell in a double blow for the team. Adelaide will be looking to in form James Maloney to get them off to a good start. Payne Haas has also been in mercurial form and will be looking to wrestle Adelaide the hard yards.
Looking at the stats and facts. Adelaide have the upper hand in the forwards and at fullback while Darwin edge out their opponents in the halves and in the backs.
The verdict: Expect an epic encounter, this weekend with both teams leaving everything on the field. We predict Nathan Cleary winning it for the Dragons showing why he is the best number 7 in the game today.
