Just want to work on something with you guys that has been long overdue. Ages ago, Padds brought out a series of great stat guidelines. I cannot for the life of me find these so I think it is time to create some news ones.
Guidelines are good for us raters to determine a players level. Guidelines can be of great assistance for all coaches to use when determining a players ability for stat challenges and rerates.
I will stress this though about guidelines. Guidelines are just that....guides. Guidelines are not there to be followed to the absolute letter. There must be room for what the raters see as well as actual statlines itself. A guideline is still great to have for ballpark type figures for players.
One more thing in regards to re-rates. If you challenge a player based on a stat which is indeed very borderline, you need to accept whatever the raters give you. A borderline pass is hardly a great endorsement in regards to raising a statline....it may happen, it may not.
The stat appeal is there to fix the glaring error in a players ability in regards to improvement. If you appeal a statline that is close, then you are in essence taking a punt. Nothing wrong with that but your appeal could fail if it is way too borderline.
I will start with a general recognition of what each stat number should resemble in regards to a players ability. I will break down individual positional requirements later.
10 = best of the best, consistent excellence for a large chunk of a season at the very least.
9 = playing an elite level regarding a particular skill. The skill is a heavy influencer of a game result.
8 = playing in first grade at an above average level regarding a particular skill. Does some good things for his team but not with the frequency or ability of a 9 player.
7 = playing at a first grade level but not particularly outstanding with a particular skill.
6= reserve grade level player.
5= below reserve grade (age group player) or just terrible with a particular skill....would not be picked in first grade for that particular skill.
I'd like your opinions on these things guys. If you have a thought please suggest it here or in the position threads I will gradually open up. Our game....I'd love your ideas. Do you think the general stat descriptions are fair?
