...the final touches in place at Spotland, for the opening match of the ASRL season between Rochdale and Canberra, the crowd in their seats, and the video screens opening with a montage of scenes filmed around Rochdale, and the naming of the Raptors' players who aren't in the starting XVII...and the players being escorted to their sideline by local rugby children of the Rochdale area...
...and two somewhat famous women stand at the centre of the pitch, right arms extended, each holding an eagle in their gloved hands, gently feeding and stroking them...then releasing them to fly overhead, to return at their command...
...next will be the walk-off song, used today as the walk-on song...but, outside my window, now, this song is playing loudly...

...but who were the two women falconmistresses?
One, more Britons know of her than any member of the Royal Family, save the Queen...and she has played multiple queens on stage and on film...
...it surprised no one that Dame Judi Dench was at Spotland...
...but the other, wearing a grey tunic, whose left sleeve and turtled neck were yellow, who was she? Did anyone remember or know of this British (via Burma) actress?
And, more to the point, what were the reasons she was here?
Enquiring minds might ponder these questions whilst waiting for games to be played, and the Raptors' walk-off music to be introduced as this game's walk-on music...

It seems that rugby is quite the cultural pursuit in Rochdale society.

It’s a toss up which is worst, Mac. Rochdale FC are near the bottom in league 1 in football and Rochdale Hornets are near the bottom of the Championship in RL
