At this present time, the ASRL has only five coaches. Myself, Matt, Bill, Padds and Mack are here and all have been here for a very long time.
I love ASRL and want to continue to be a part of it for the long term. But, Im going to be honest here. This season is the first season I have not enjoyed and that is due to the very low number of participants. It is no coincidence that four of the top five teams in the comp are coached teams.
The success of ASRL is driven by the people in it. Five is simply not sustainable long term. I will give a guarantee of simming next season but unless we can somehow attract more coaches, next season will probably be my last in the simmers chair.
It is time for us to really think long and hard about where the comp is going. Are we too complicated for new coaches joining the ASRL? I really do believe we lost a coach who joined up earlier in the offseason because it seemed too complex for him. CWB pretty much shared the same opinion a while back?
What do you think we need to do to get new blood in?

I agree completely with the above. This is the first season i have questioned the future of the ASRL and I love that it has been part of my life for twenty years now and I would be very sorry to see it done and gone.
I would suggest we reach out to past coaches and ask what they would like to see done differently to make it attractive again. A complete redraft? A rule change? Multiple rule changes?
Like everything, i am sure there is a way to get ten active coaches again..other than Jim the ones who have left had their lives go a bit haywire when they dropped off.
