Every year the contract bidding is unpredicatble and while some away satsified others fume into their beards for months over missed opportunities. The 2019 pre-season pool is arguably the best in recent memory and money-bathing clubs like Sydney, Gold Coast and Glasgow will never have a chance like this to bolster their line ups again. Without further ado, here are this humbles reporters 25 most wanted.
1.Dale Cherry Evans (9 , 6 , 8 , 7 , 7)
-DCE is in the enviable position of being an off contract half with multiple clubs destitue in said position. DCE has had a solid year and is probably the most sensational and reliable of the halves on show.
2.Jason Taumalolo ( 10 , 8 , 3 , 3 , 7)
-A former Grand final winner, the 25 year old barn stormer will be extracting drool from coaches looking for a number 13 to get their forward rolling. Taumalolo has been possibly the ASRLs best forward for seasons now.
3.Sonny Bill-Williams ( 9 , 8 , 5 , 3 , 7)
-Long a treasured member of Gold Coast, SBW will finally test the open markets to see the value of his power.
4.Cameron Smith ( 8 , 9 , 8 , 9 , 9)
-If not for a failed two season campaign with Sydney, the mercurial, chin-wagging Smith woould may well be at number 1. The Guy has captain, kicking, attack and defence. Smith will be looking for a final contract to see him through his last 4 seasons in the ASRL.
5.Matt Moylan (9 , 6 , 8 , 7 , 6)
-Like DCE, Moylan can expect some fine offers for his piggy bank. Moylan has been in the form the past few months and will only get better.
6.Josh Addo-Carr (10 , 7 , 5 , 5 , 7)
-Hands down the best attacking back up for grabs and the fox will be hoping for a paycheck to match it.
7.Sam Burgess ( 9 , 8 , 3 , 2 , 9 )
-Although Burgess wasn't completely at his best in 2018/19, the English stud is never too far away from destroying opponents.
8.Martin Tapau (10 , 7 , 1 , 1 , 6)
-Mr Cannonball himself will intimidate the opponents of any coach and those metres will speak for themself.
9.Daniel Alvaro (8 , 9 , 1 , 1 , 7)
-Nothing flashy but the amount of work the man does at prop makes him the number one prop for sale on Monday.
10.Matt Gillett (8 , 9 , 4 , 4 , 7)
-An injury plagued 2018/19 for the top rated backrower in the pool and a risky bet on whether he can get back to his best.
11.James Roby (8 , 9 , 6 , 5 , 8)
-The dominance is now a decade long for Roby and there is no-one who is a more consistent performer at hooker.
12.Boyd Cordner (8 , 8 , 2 , 2 , 8)
-Old cube head had a slow start to last year but came home strong. The NSW and Australian rep will do his job.
13.James Roberts ( 9 , 6 , 5 , 5 , 6)
-Speed and lots of it. Roberts played a key role in getting melbourne their first ever minor premiership and Grand Final last season.
14.Paul Vaughen (8 , 8 , 1 , 1 , 7)
-Stands next to Alvaro as the other blue chip prop up for grabs.
15.Tom Trbojevic (9 , 5 , 6 , 6 , 6)
-Some feel the youngster is slightly underrated and being played at fullback has been the root of his problems. The best fullback on the market.
16.Nathan Brown (9 , 8 , 1 , 1 , 7)
-A hard nut that no-one can crack for a no-nonsense lock forward.
17.Clinton Gutherson (8 , 7 , 7 , 7 , 8)
-Gutho showed just how good and flexible he is to play anywhere on the park for North Queensland. A great utility option.
18.Wade Graham (8 , 8 , 6 , 5 , 8)
-Just gets better with age.
19.Greg Inglis (9 , 7 , 5 , 4 , 8)
-The old dodger and one time best in the world will be looking for a team to play out his last two seasons in the ASRL.
20.Richard Myler (9 , 6 , 8 , 6 , 7)
-The third of the halves options up for grabs to get a team rolling.
21.Paul McShane (8 , 9 , 6 , 5 , 7)
-A player that always manages to fly under the rader. McShanes manager says he has been paid too little for way too long.
22.Tohu Harris ( 8 , 8 , 3 , 3 , 7)
-Another solid backrow options that can go and defend.
23.Liam Marshall (9 , 6 , 5 , 5 , 6)
-Extremely young and already dazzling on the wing.
24.Jayden Brailey (7 , 9 , 6 , 5 , 6)
-The youngster is primed and ready to defend like a mofo.
25.Jarryd Hayne (9 , 6 , 6 , 5 , 7 )
-The Hayne-Plane flew so high and then crashed in the off-season. A player draped in scandal and risk.
