Merseyside Dockers insiders reckon the club has snared a good one having secured the services of teenage firebrand Tom Gilbert this week.
The 19-year-old middle had been on the radars of several clubs before the Dockers convinced him to swap Queensland for the Queen's Land and relocate to Liverpool.
"There's big wraps on the kid and a lot of excitement on Merseyside aboout his arrival," said a source.
"Gilbert has been likened to Anthony Watmough and Josh McGuire so if he can have half the career those fellas have had he'll be doing okay."
The Proserpine-born forward will continue his apprenticeship with South Lancs Saints in the Rising Star Conference where he will line up alongside fellow Queenslanders Tom Flegler and Corey Horsburgh.
QRL competitions manager David Maiden told ASRL.com: "Tom plays like Anthony Watmough did in the way he pushes the boundaries and gets under an opponent's skin, while also having a really good work ethic.
"Last year he was learning to curb that aggression and point it in the right direction and he has got better at it. He is no nonsense, no frills. He gets the job done."
Merseyside also picked up the regally named King Vuniyayawa, a raw but exciting Fijian back row prospect.
