Winners Perch
Sydney over Adelaide 24-4
The greats are back, thumping the formerly cocky & feared Adelaide. A week is a long time in ASRL.
Led by Josh McGuire & Paul Vaughan, Sydneys forwards were simply outstanding, but the team that looked like choking earlier than usual this season, now look reasonably solid across the park.
Look for a ratings challenge for Blake Austin in coming weeks, the man is on fire & deserves far more game time & respect than his 7/4 is currently giving him.
Darwin over Capetown 34-6
Doubles to David Fusitua & Felise Kaufusi led Darwin to a thumping win over Capetwon, who really have been disappointing.
Fusitua in particular is in scintillating form, his double giving him 7 tries for the season already from fullback for the strong Darwin side.
A Big injury to star backrower Tyson Frizell (testicle ruptured) will weaken the side slightly in coming weeks.
Auckland over Hull 32-12
Coen Hess continues to fire, moving around between centre & back row as required by the side, & a Jennings hat trick in first game in starting side were the highlights.
Completions down to 53%, indicating ball security needs attention at Auckland, as there have been a number of weeks now where ball control has been unacceptable.
Looking forward to welcoming back gun English forward John Bateman next week, replacing youngster Marata Niukore who looks like spending a few weeks on the sideline with ankle issues, joining George Burgess & Corey Norman missing from the upcoming round .
The side is building nicely as the season progresses.
Fairfield over Canberra 26-16
A Great forward display led by Fisher Harris, gave Fairfield a sold win over Canberra.
With a few players coming back from injury, look for Fairfield to continue their charge up the table.
Melbourne over Brisbane 34-20
Mark Flanagans defence needs to improve with 20 points scored against the side, mostly through Flanagans part of the field, , however, he has performed exceptionally well with the ball for a man out of position.
Flanagan has one job, tackle, but he has decided to score tries with a double this week, but his coach must be concerned with the missed tackle count from the listless lock come 5/8.
Watch for the underrated Theo Fages to possible force the coaches hand to take this side to the next level.
Glasgow over Gold Coast 18-13
Hooray! A win for Glasgow!
Alex Twal carried the side on his shoulders with a phenomenal front rowers performance, scooping the POM points & helping the side to a courageous win.
Josh Addo Carr, Richie Myler & Isreal Falou should be back from injury this week….lord help whoever is playing this mighty side.
