Nineteen years. Nineteen long, long years, thats around 40 seasons. After those long, long years Sydney Oilers are the toast of rugby league .
In a tough and courageous 80 minutes that crafted a new chapter into rugby league folklore handing Darwin a paddlin of epic proportions.
Plenty of Oilers players were shedding tears after the full time siren, along with thousands of the OIlers faithful who thought this day would never arrive.
In touching scenes, the Oilers coach & James Tedesco embraced at full-time. The Darwin boys were brave in defeat and the scoreline was an unfair reflection on the season they had. The match was such that it cannot be said whether the Oilers resolute defence, or silky smooth attack led the way, but in any case, the 9-1 penalty count against Darwin certainly laid the platform. Ill discipline that coach Dino will be having nightmares of, in the coming days as he comes to terms with the loss.
Congratulation to the Oilers, & their master puppeteer, one of Ipswich's finest, Roger Eric Bossert .
