Hi, Im just here to bring up some discussion points about re-rates for next season.
My main point that I want to bring up is that stats are not everything. I think they tell a significant story of how a player is going but they don't tell absolutely everything. For our coaches that don't watch a lot of NRL, they will have to lean on those stats.
I think we have never rated players more accurately than we do now. But I know that even myself who watches an average of five NRL games a week has resorted to stats rather than how I see the player at times.
Fullbacks: I think we tend to rate them quite accurately.
Wingers: I think we really overrate how wingers are going in attack. An "8" is for player that are better than an average first grader but not quite the star that a "9" is. Even the worst wingers in the comp tend to hit the 100m mark. I will be look at the more critically than in the past.
Centres: I think we underrate the defence of some centres. Once, I rated Josh Morris a "6" in defence due to stats. We all know he is a shitload better than that.
5/8 ths: Pretty spot on.
Halfbacks: Pretty spot on
Front Rowers: We do well
Hookers: Im fine. Some have disputed the defensive stats....we just need to weigh up their numbers with the % of completions.
Second-Row: Fine
Lock: Fine
Goalkicking: We are a bit harsh on this one. It should be 70-80% = 8, 80-90% = 9, 90-100% = 10. Prior form, under pressure and techniques should come under consideration.

I'll add to this one, when stats are used as benchmark, especially for forwards, minutes played have a huge effect, but are not taken into account by us.
If I guy plays big minutes, obviously his tackle & metre numbers go up accordingly. Is this what's e want?
A plodder with a big motor may get his 120m & 20 tackles because he is there for 80. Another guy might get the same stats in 40 minutes, but chances are, we will rate them the same. I think its something worthy of discussion.

I'd like to see a bit more focus on temp too. Seems a bit random at times.
