This is something that has recently come to mind and i think that deleting all the players in the player pool (except perhaps 7/7's etc) could be good for a number of reasons. A) the vast majority of players in there are has beens or never was'. B) we can do a completely thorough ratings next ratings period with nobody overlooked. C) The pool will naturally grow again with every Feeders and Mad Barry period.
Thoughts?

I think the idea makes perfect sense. I'd probably just leave a very select few to cover for injuries in each position.

Maybe trim drastically, but not delete all. There’s been tons of dross in there for ages.

Why note just save an old copy (call it archive pool), just radically take to new pool & if someone thinks that there was a player in the pool they want (from old archive pool) let them have them provided they are still playing somewhere. Just smash the pool we work with for ratings etc to make it more manageable.
My god there is some crap in there

Im sure we could choose about 30 players to keep from the pool to keep active. All the 7/7's and a few of the actually active players.

When do we want to do it??
When we finish player pool pick ups and bidding. Then i can also start organising for next ratings period when no-one will be overlooked.

Agreed get rid of the Lincoln Withers, Rangi Chase type players who retired and are probably in their 40s

Great idea. It's a pretty awful thing at the moment
