The Dolphins continued to rise in round 4, while Melbourne and Rochdale are still technically undefeated. Sydney and Hulls horror starts to season 2018 continued and Brisbane look formidable once more.
1. Rochdale Raptors. (3-0-1)
A humbling draw at last cast doubts on the invincibility of new Florida-come-Rochdale coach Theo Sheamus. Two tries in the dying minutes must have had Rochdale fans baying with fury as Melbourne managaed a miracle recovery to scratch up he one point. Moylan and Chery-Evans have been combing beautifully for Rochdale with ten player of the points between them already. Although they have a few niggling injuries, everyone should be on deck for round 5 if required.
2. Melbourne (3-0-1)
A mircale final 6 minutes was what saved the Monsters from suffering their first defeta of the season. Melbourne will quite pleased with the result considering half their forward pack have been sidelined for multiple rounds. Mid week speculation that Auckland coach Bill Townsend may be looking to return to an Australian team next season hopefully won't discombobulate their run. Alex Walmsley will be joining other forward stars Andrew Fifita and Sebastein Ikahihifo on the sidelines in round 5.
3.Brisbane Cougars (3-1-0)
After a shock first round loss, The Cougars have been back to business with three wins on the trot including a hard fought win over Auckland this week. Out of favour half Cooper Cronk was again down in the lower leagues but left with the reigns James Maloney is in career best form. Darius Boyd and Aron Woods will be seeing this round out from the sidelines.
4.Gold Coast Crusade (3-0-1)
The Crusdae continued to run hot in 2018 with a mechanical destruction of Capetown 22-0. Other than Jason Baiteri, the Gold Coast are injurt free and should go into round 5 full of confidence and led by Corey Thompson who has been their star thus far.
5.Fairfield Stallions(3-0-1)
Mentioned as possible spooners at the beginning of the year, the Stallions continue to defy the critics with another win over topsy turvy Glasgow.
Matty Smith has been the surprise packet of 2018 and his partnership with Pearce has been spectacular. Apisai Koroisau is back in round 5 so xpect even better from Fairfield in Round 5.
6.Darwin Dragons (2-0-2)
Sitting just inside the 6 after a hard fought win over the Oilers, Darwin will be looking to fortify their spot in the following rounds. The youngest team in the comp with a squad full of Darwin raised juniours, its the back row where the Dragons have excelled this season despite losing some huge names from those positions in the off season.
7.North Queensland (2-0-2)
From last to 7th on the all important power rankings for North Queensland after a rare victory over premiers Adelaide in round 4. Round 3 and 4 have really seen Stella get her groove back and the Dolphins backline have shown evidence of becoming the best in the league.
8.Adelaide Attitude (2-0-2)
Losses to Fairfield and now North Queensland have pundits professing doubt over 2017/18 season champs the Attitude. Adelaide have fizzled in attack this season and losing Oates, Percival and Radrara last round didnt help. Coach McElory will be hoping the return of Semi Radrara will fire them back into the top 6.
9.Canberra Carnage (2-0-2)
A vital victory over struggling Hull this weekend will relax the coaching staff at the Carnage this round. However, The Carnage will need to step up some areas if they look to pressure the top 6 anytime soon. Widdop has looked great in season 2018 but will need his partner Kieren Foran to shape up and finally get rid of the 'overpaid' and 'overrated' tags that plague him.
10.Glasgow Reapers (2-0-2)
Win-loss-win-loss. Glasgow have been a rollercoaster this season as they show tha twith some decent weaponary coach Simon is a force to be reckoned with. Losing to Fairfield in round 4 The Reapers need to get Albert Kelly firing so he can feed the new big three in Folau, Inglis and De Belin who have started 2018 well.
11.Auckland Orcas (1-0-3)
A respectable loss to Brisbane last round won't leave Orcas fans too disappointed with the state of affairs. Mid week rumours of the coach doing a runner to the Melbourne Monsters may however have some detrimental effects on the team focus. Cody Walker and Luke Gale just havent seem to come together yet this season and that will be pivotal if these orcas want to rise up to glory once more. Rapana in doubt for round 5.
12.Capetown Ravens (1-0-3)
A rough start to 2018 for new Coach Sparrowington. Round 4 saw them fall prey to an inform crsuade whose line they just couldn't break. The Ravens forwards will need to pick up their form and the new halves duo of Thurston and Holmes will need to finally hit their marks to turn 2018 around.
13.Sydney Oilers (0-0-4)
Upon announcing the signing of Cameron Smith att he beginning of the season, long suffering Oilers fans hailed him as the new messiah. However, he has failed to capture his team mates focus and the resulys have been none to pleasing with a loss to Darwin the latest of Coach Bosserts woes. Rumour has it that James Tedesco has been trialling in the number 6 lately and could create a devastatin galliance with Captain Smith.
14. Hull KR (0-0-4)
Embroiled in a mid week scandal involving forward raunchy pics to fellow coaches has erhas given evidence of coach Paddocks lack of intent this season. Gifted with a talented squad worthy of the top 2, Hull instead find themsleves dwelling at the bottom of the table with each and every player lookingh like an Englishman who just been told there is no jam to go with his scone.
