Another round and another weekend of delights and disappointment. Rochdale and Melbourne remained undefeated at the top whereas Sydney and Hull stayed winless by 1 point and 2 points respectively.
1.Rochdale Raptors (4-0-1)
Rochdale accounted for Darwin in round 5 with a clinical performance. The Raptors 1 to 7 have been especially good this season and Rochdale will go into their round 6 encounter with North Queensland injury free. A big match as the Dolphins are on a three game hot streak right now.
2.Melbourne Monsters (4-0-1)
Glasgow was the latest victim of the resgurgent Monsters who again used their backline to wow the crowds with new boy Jake Bibby getting MOM in his appearance. Melbourne are still without key forwards going into round 6 when they play premiers Adelaide in a riveting affair.
3.Gold Coast Crusade (4-1-0)
Another win for the dark horse Crusdae with a last minute goal to Townsend breaking the hearts of the Redskins faithful. GC would love to have a bye this weekend to deal with a wealth of niggling injuries but will go in confident against the Dragons in round 6.
4.Fairfield Stallions (4-0-1)
How do they do it? Another victory for the Stallions this time over the Carnage. Leading candidate for the spoon before the season start, class English half Matty Smith will need another masterclass with injuries to multiple players in round 5.
5.North Queensland Dolphins (3-2-0)
A three game winning streak has halted or panice in the North after two losses in the opening two rounds. The Dolphins took down the fast fading Ravens in round 5. That said, NQ will go into their match with competition leaders Rochdale minus club captain Billy Slater who will be on the sidelines for at least two weeks.
6.Adelaide Attitude (3-0-2)
A topsy start to premiers Adelaide with the Attitude bouncing back from a loss to the Dolphins with a win over crafty Brisbane in round 5. Things wont be easy in round 6 for Adelaide in round 6 with co-comp leaders Melbourne in their path. Having Corey Oates and Mark Percival returning should help.
7.Brisbane Cougars (3-2-0)
A three game winning streak came to an end in round five. Brisbane will be looking to get their momentum back against unpredictable Glasgow in round 6. Cooper Cronks banishing to RSC has got even worse with the champion halfback receiving a long term injury last week against Kensington.
8.Darwin Dragons (2-3-0)
A loss to competition leaders Rochdale in round 5 for the Dragons. Darwin will be without senstaional halfback Brad Murray as well as Latrell Mitchell and Cameron McIness in round 6 as they come up against the rampaging Gold Coast.
9.Auckland Orcas (2-3-0)
A last minute field goal to Luke Gale gave Auckland their second win of the season over dawdling winless Sydney. Oft trading has seen a mixed chemistry at the Orcas through the first five rounds and a number of minor injuries could slow them down against Hull in round 6.
10.Canberra Carnage (2-3-0)
Canberra will be fiery to make up for their recent slump and last round loss to Fairfield. Gareth Widdop is really hitting his stride and the Carnage will be looking to take down poor old Sydney in round 6.
11. Glasgow Reapers (2-3-0)
Nobody is really sure if the Reapers are a serious threat or also runs right now after a topsy turvy first 5 rounds with two big wins and three big losses including last round to comp leaders Melbourne in round 5. Injuries to Inglis and Folau wont help their quest which comes to Brisbane in Brisbane in round 6.
12.Capetown Ravens (1-4-0)
Another round and another loss for the Ravens going down in the last few minutes to the uprising Dolphins. Things wont get easier in round 6 against strong starting Fairfield and Thurston will need a new halves partner this weekend with Hodgkinson out this week.
13.Sydney Oilers (0-5-0)
A heart breaking loss in the dying seconds plus an injury to Cameron Smith means Coach Roger will have a serious case of the sad faces this week. Sydney will fancy a chance for their first win against struggling Canberra but who will be in the number 7 come game day?
14.Hull Kington Redskins (0-5-0)
Speculation that young rsc star Kalyn Ponga will be getting his call up very soon and hopefully that will inspire Hull to their first victory this season. Hull will have to deal with Auckland in round 6 and will go on unaffected by injury.
1.Rochdale Raptors (4-0-1)
