Tides have turned and the ASRL is amok with teams desperate to pip their way closer to the six.
1.North Queensland Dolphins
Undefeated since round losing their first two rounds, the Dolphins continue to amass scalps with dreary but surprisingly tough this round Sydney the latest to fall at the wayside. It has been the little guys rather than the superstars who have done all the pivotal stuff with Hutchison, Holland and alledged illegitimate son of Coach Bailey, Ryan Morgan, leading the way. Addo-Carr will be sidelined for at least two rounds.
2.Gold Coast Crusade
Having ridden the wave to the top of the ASRL, The Crusade finally crashed down to Earth again this weekend with a loss to Melbourne. Corey Thompson and Liam Marshall have been lethal from the back and with this weeks loss we might see SBW revert back to the centres where he has cleaned up this year.
3.Fairfield Stallions.
Just how do the boys from Fairfield keep winning? Matty Smith plus Aden Sezer seems to be the key for Fairfield who have a shot at climbing into first place this round.
4.Canberra Carnage
Canbeera seem to have come out of noweher recently to suddenly be just two points of competition leaders Gold Coast. Croker and Papalli have been unstoppable in the centres and were crucial in dispatching miserable Capetown this round past. With Widdop looking to return this weekend expect Canberra t get even stronger.
5.Melbourne Monsters
Having fallen from grace in the last few weeks, the Monsters came back to the winners circle against the first place Crusade. Welcoming back big players from injury over this round and the next will boost the boys power by the flexible Vunivalu.
6.Rochdale Raptors
Rochdale will be looking to handbreak their downward spiral that saw Hull get their first win of the season last weekend. One reason to blame could be Matt Moylans horror run with the boot knocking over a terrible 38 out of 58 so far this season.
7.Darwin Dragons
Darwin are on fire right now knocking over Adelaide and Brisbane in back to back weeks. Jamie Buhrer has been the surprise inspiration in their recent run. The Dragons will also look forward to getting back in Frizzel, Moses and Yeo in the next round or two.
8.Adelaide Attitude
Back in the winners circle with a two point win over Glasgow. Adelaides for and against is their biggest enemy right now sitting last of the five teams sitting on ten points. A 7 weeker to Semi Radrara wont help as he joins Percival, French, Johnson and Friend on the injured list.
9.Brisbane Cougars
At 5 and 5 to start the first ten rounds Brisbane are having one of their worst season starts in history. Maloney and Cronk will need to fire back up this round to close the gap for The Cougars from 7th to 6th.
10.Glasgow Reapers
A tiny loss but oh so important for the Reapers who now sit 3 points adrift of the 6 on equal standings with Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide and Auckland. Losing Simon Mannering for at least two weeks wont help morale.
11.Auckland Orcas
Another hiccup this weekend for the Orcas who technically stand equal 7th right now. Coach Townsend will be hoping that Rapana or Barba can get some fireworks started next round although the team may be absent halfback Luke Gale.
12.Capetown Ravens
A miserable season for the Ravens with Thurston still injured and another loss this time at the hands of Canberra. Capetwon will be looking for some quality from Norman and Hodkinson this weekend to upset the Monsters.
13.Hull KR
The drought is over. The famine is broken. Hull have taken down Rochdale and got their first win of the season. It will take a miracle to make the finals this season for Hull but they will at least hope to get some momentum and develop some of their young talent especially Kalyn Ponga, over the next 8 rounds.
14.Sydney Oilers
What would have been more frustrating and vexing for Coach Roger Bossert this round. A narrow 6-0 loss to competition high flyers North QLD or Hull getting their first win of the season and sending them back to last place?
