2018 has been a great season that has been ultra competitive with last seasons top 3 all outside the 8 with two rounds to go. Currenlty 11 of our 14 teams are coached and two of those three are caretaken. Although Dino and I have been pretty happy caretakers i am sure we all prefer some extra coaches to lift the game even further.
So it seems like we usually get new coache or returning coaches such as Sparrow, Magro, Bushy, Micky J but then after a little time of low success they disappear again. How do we stop this happening?
I am suggesting we make even more benefits for coaches who locate new coaches and also bigger advantages to new or returning coaches.
I suggest the following.
-1 million cash to any coach who brings in a new coach. Paid at end of season after the coach has stuck around for a while. -Currently a new coach is allowed to lose one contracted player free of cash penalty. I am suggesting that we change this to two or even three players and not only can they pay out these players but they also have the opportunity to return a player on contract to their market value. Eg. A player like Maloney on say 600k goes to the 385k of a 9/5 on a 3 season contract.

For me, the real attraction of a game like this is being able to build a squad that I want. I'd be happy to introduce a rule where a new coach can get rid of any of his players at the end of their first season without penalty, even dump all of them and go into CB with a clean slate.
That might not be something that sits well with everyone, but if you really think about it, how many of us would take over Fairfield right now (for eg). I think a few would have a crack knowing the rules and how the game works, but honestly for a new coach it's not that attractive. There's probably five or six players in that squad you'd be happy with, and the rest is pretty much dross. Melbourne is a bit better in terms of balance, but there's not really a star player that you'd be attracted to as a new coach.
I think part of the thing turning people off is that, eventually, coachless sides wind up ordinary and a new coach is stuck with a lot of those players. So for me I say let new coaches sack every bastard if they want to. At least you could have a losing season and think "well, ok, but I can have an enitrely new squad next year that I've gone out and got" and you might stay around. Much harder when you have a losing season and then sit back and realise you've got 14 random 7/6s on contract for another two or more.

It's not a huge advantage, but reduces the significance of the disadvantage
