It's been noted that North Queensland Dolphins went from near zero last season to Minor Prem this... ...so, how did everybody improve/degrade from last season to this? First spreadsheet is sorted by the team placings in 2018, and to understand the spreadsheet, any good category (wins, points scored, competition points, etc.), a positive number is good, and a negative number is bad; any bad category (losses, points allowed), a negative number is good, and a positive number is bad. The second spreadsheet is sorted by how much improvement teams have made/not made, sorted by team competition points, then differential: In case you were wondering why Zienna Merton, the owner of Rochdale Raptors, was so pleased with with her manager that she danced with him, these two tables tell the tale. And this also explains why Happy Badger was worried about the Reapers' game in Glasgow - even allowing for their loss to Rochdale, the Reapers were the third most improved team in 2018, despite missing the playoffs - so their future appears to be quite bright. Everybody else will be glancing through their own numbers, to see what the stats show, and some interesting stuff indeed... ...the key takeaway is that Bazal, as great a performance as he pulled off in North Queensland, is not as much of a lead pipe cinch to take the Manager of the Year as has been opined here in the ASRL media scrum...yet...

I think that a few coaches could stand up as manager of the year. I think it's wonderful that the top three were teams which were down the other end of the table last season.

I was lucky to come back at a time when the side had almost 3 million bucks to splash in bidding. The squad isn't exactly what I want yet, but it's a hundred times better than the one that rolled out last season.
I definitely think I've made the finals with worse North QLD squads in the past. Pretty sure my first finals appearance I had a pretty rubbish squad, actually. Still, this is easily my most enjoyable season so far. Trying to remember if it's my first or second minor premiership, I think I was close to the top the year I made the GF.

I've won two Grand Finals in my career, but never, ever, ever a Minor Premiership (one from second, one from seventh)... ...so I have from third, fourth, fifth, and sixth to go to collect the complete set...I may as well start now with third We need to do an "Uncle Johns Wants You!" poster, and send it to a few people (maybe a certain Aussie on the road to start?)
