Obviously this is an undefined situation in the ASRL. In the old days the lock traditionally was like a second 5-8 whereas today the locks are basically a third prop or insome cases a second rower. Taumalolo, Jake T, Gallen, Burgess are examples of players who play exactly like props but have the 13 on thier back basically as a symbol of being the dominant prop in their teams.
None of these players could play five-eight or hooker as they can in the asrl as locks. I think if these players play the role of the prop or second rower on the field the coach should have the option of nominating that player for that position in the sim.
Burgess for example can be a 13 or a prop. Radley for example coould be a 13 or second rower.
To me it doesnt make sense that a player cant be nominated as a ten or 11 just because they wear a 13 on their back. If they swapped George or Tom, with Sam in the 13 jersey what would change? Nothing because they all play the same role.

I'm torn on this one, I can see arguments both ways, but to me its simply a rerate request. WE have to work with the sim we have. If any guy has played prop for his club or in rep in recent past, then request away. I had Sam Burgess knocked back from lock to 2nd row, we all know he has played plenty of 2nd row in his career, but not in recent past. Sucked for Auckland but you just have to accept the decision. If any changes are made, there cant be a grey area, its either all can be moved about, or its through rerate. You cant have a "some can do this, some can do that" scenario. & with a rerate request comes the usual risks, or in some cases, benefits.
Personally, I think leave it as it is, leave it to & respect the opinions of raters & live with & accept the decision.
If a club needs a prop, 2nd rower or fullback for that matter, go get one. Trade away!!
Having said that, I wouldn't kick & scream if you guys chose to go the other way
