Adelaide are still in the race for a spot in the 2018/19 finals after a victory over old rivals Brisbane. This followed a 2-0 loss to North Queensland the week before and two dars in the two rounds preceding that. This means that Adelaide could theoretically be four points higher or lower if these close encounters had gone their way or not.
Nothing remarkable or inspiring in that although nor do many of the current contenders seem to be stamping themselves as favourites. Competition leader had a lucky win after a few losses, North Queensland suffered a shock loss to Auckland and GC, Darwin and Melbourne have been good but not in a fashion that makes them outright favourites.
This week sees Adelaide up against old enemy Auckland in a match that could see Adelaide enter the six or find themselves at a 3 to 5 point gap from it. Look to Jason Taumalolo to step up again in his fifth outing in the five-eight position.
